"Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering." Hebrews 13:1-3
Unicef estimates that 40% of girls in Uganda are married before they are 18. This number is even higher in impoverished, rural areas such as ours. Without an education, girls get married for protection and security and teenage boys often leave home in search of a “better life” that they rarely find. In our district, only 5% of adults have finished high school and the majority of the children in our women’s program are not attending school. There is a dire need for schools in our area.
Though we have not yet raised the money to begin our primary school, we are planning to begin a literacy in February, 2020. This center will be a safe place where children, whether they are in school or not can come to learn how to read and write, English, be read to and be able to sit in a homey environment to read a book for themselves. Of course, Christ is at the center of all that we do and we will therefore begin each day with prayer and end with a devotion.
If you would like to support a child to attend this program, please
Through serving these parents we have seen many come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior - all Glory to Him!
"And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." Isaiah 58:10
