" The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them." Psalm 145:18-19
Family Reunification
API reunites street children, trafficked, and rescued children with their biological families or a foster parent. We receive calls from the community and child welfare officer whenever there are homeless children in need of physical care and a family. We do not believe that poverty is ever a reason for a child to be on the streets or in an orphanage. We therefore provide a high level of support for these children to be able to successfully stay at home with their families. This is done through counseling, family support, a quality education as well as taking care of the child’s basic needs such as clothing, tutoring, meals, and books at school, and medical care.
Choosing to sponsor a resettled child would allow a child to be part of a safe family. It would also help to teach and provide for that family the means to take care of him or her if needed. You are not only providing for a child, but for a family.
API Resettlement Stories
Dissan
Dissan was resettled back with his grandmother, who is a Christian and loves him dearly. Dissan had run away from home because the family had run out of school fees for him to be able to finish Primary 7 (Junior High) and he went to the streets in search of a better life.
He didn't find it there and when given the opportunity to be resettled back with his family he was happy to go home. His grandmother was even happier to have him home, fearing that he had died on the streets.
Through the support of API in paying for school fees and school requirements, Dissan was able to finish Primary 7 and the national examinations. He will begin vocational school next year; he has chosen to study building and construction!
We started a pig project with him as a way for him to earn more money and will be placing him in a vocational school in his village next year! Way to go Dissan!
Mayanja Joseph
Joseph was resettled back with his family who were joyous to have him home. His family loves him and is able to pay for his school fees, but they needed a little help.
API provided Joseph with some needed items as home like a Bible, mattress and clothing and we started a pig project with his family so they can earn some extra money for their family. Joseph has settled in well with his family and we are so grateful that they are now back together!
